AJ in Australia – March Report

I only now have 2 weeks left in sunny Oz.

Last week we had our semi final game against A Grade side Ex Students CC, the match was played over 2 days – Saturday and Sunday – we won the toss and batted first, unfortunately we only got 171 runs with the highest score being 72.

On the Sunday we gave it our all in the field but some unfortunate dropped catches meant it just wasn’t going to be our day. Ex Students won the game comfortably. In the subsequent final they lost to a strong Glengarry side, so I’d like to say a huge congratulations to Glengarry Cricket Club on a great season,  well done fellas!

Our club’s B and C Grade sides both won their semi-finals. B Grade side losing in a thrilling final with the very last ball of the game, and C Grade falling short by 30 runs.

All 3 teams gave a great effort in their matches and it was fantastic to have so much support from family, friends and supporter’s, there was a great spirit all around the club.

This coming weekend we our presentation evening it will be so good to see everyone at the ground over a few drinks or 2! As the following weekend I will be getting ready to fly back home and to start my cricket season  with Cromer.

I only have 10 more days at work, I’m currently working in a town called Warragul, days can be long when the temperature is in high 30’s and Australia’s strict health and safety regulations mean we have to wear hi-vis long sleeves top and long work trousers! At the end of a hot day its shorts, flip flops and a cold beer around a pool!! Lets hope I can bring the good weather back with me to the UK!!

GdDay for now! catch up with you for my last blog in 2 weeks time
